MILFORD, Del. – Mohawk Electrical Systems, Inc. has been going through many changes in 2017. From new capabilities and partnerships, to more active involvement in both the local and armed forces community, Mohawk has made new impressions in 2017.
Beginning the year by sponsoring the Defense Leadership Forums, Navy Small Business Contracting Summit in Jacksonville, Fla., Mohawk began growing production lines in March of 2017 by acquiring the manufacturing division of a printed circuit board design company and hiring an operator with more than 20 years of manufacturing experience in the printed circuit board field. In the latter part of 2017, production capabilities continued to expand to offer custom laser engraving for small components.
Mohawk’s quality assurance was also upgraded in May of 2017 when the company passed their audit for ISO 9001:2015 certification. The rigorous audit and Mohawk’s dedication to excellence gives customers peace of mind when trusting Mohawk with the quality aspects of their production needs.
Also in May of 2017, Mohawk in coordination with the Delaware Manufacturing Extension Partnership (DEMEP), partnered with Delaware Technical and Community College’s Advanced Manufacturing Pathway to allow a student enrolled in the program to complete a summer internship with Mohawk and learn lean manufacturing practices and gain work experience in Delaware manufacturing.
Dr. Lisa Strusowski, director of workforce development at Del-Tech, looks forward to future partnerships in the years to come. “We’d like to thank Mohawk for supporting our Delaware Tech HS Manufacturing program and students…we look forward to working with [Mohawk] on this and many other partnership opportunities,” said Strusowski.
Giving back to the local community that has adopted the company into the community for the last 54 years is one of Mohawk’s personal values. In March 2017, Mohawk sponsored the lower Delaware chapter of the Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs bowl-a-thon in an effort to raise funds for their chapter. Mohawk again sponsored their neighbor’s community parade in mid-October.
Mohawk Electrical Systems, Inc. looks forward to their new chapters ahead in 2018 as they enter their 55th year in business. This milestone, on top of their 30 year award for participation in the Delaware Workplace Safety Program in 2017, shows Mohawk’s commitment to both their employees and customers in growing and retaining their manufacturing footprint.
